RENOVO – Plans for Renovo Energy Center, LLC continue to move forward, Clinton County Economic Partnership President Michael Flanagan said this week.

Flanagan said Renovo Energy Center officials have talked with both Renovo and Clinton County officials about the proposed gas-fired power plant proposed for the Renovo Industrial Park located in the former Pennsylvania Railroad yards. “That due diligence continues for a gas fired power plant,” he said.

Currently environmental testing is underway and a weather tower is expected to be erected possibly this week. The tower components were on a site in Lock Haven this week, one local official said.

Contacted this week by therecord-online, Flanagan said he feels really positive about the proposed state-of-the-art gas-fired plant, but there’s still a long way to go. “It’s a long process with a lot of different avenues. We’re moving ahead slowly but surely.” He said construction is about a year and a half away.

He declined projecting a number of construction workers expected to work on the site but numbers projected by others have exceeded 500.

The gas-fired power plant would convert natural gas into electricity for use on the power grid.

Local officials have been working on the project since last summer and the company has an option on land presently owned by Renovo Rail and Robert Maguire.
