key-base-logoBEECH CREEK — Held hitless by Montoursville Thursday evening, the Keystone Little League Major all-starts bounced back big-time Sunday evening, piling up a 34-0 win over overmatched Jersey Shore/GSV.

Logon Ott had pitched the no-hitter against Keystone, a 6-0 Thursday win for the pre-district favorites. Sunday saw Keystone needing a win to continue its season and it gone one, taking out its Thursday frustration on Jersey Shore, accumulating 34 runs on 24 hits, including nine homeruns.

Zane Probst paced the onslaught against five ‘Shore pitchers, going 4-for-5 with three homeruns and a double, driving in nine runs. Regular season teammate Rocco Stark was right behind him with a 4-hit performance including two homeruns and a double. Nick Long also had a 4-hit night with a homerun and three singles.

Other homers came from Trevor Adair, Landyn Carson and Peyton Johnson. Colton Wagner chipped in with three hits and winning pitcher Cayde McCloskey added two.

McCloskey worked the first two innings, giving up one hit and striking out five. Wagner pitched an inning and struck out the side and Probst finished up, going an inning, striking out three and surrendering one single.

Keystone fans hope the 4-inning win is the start of the long road back through the loser’s bracket to get a crack at next Friday’s championship game at Volunteer Stadium. To do so Keystone has to win three more games starting Monday evening at 6 p.m. against East Lycoming in Hughesville.

East Lycoming dropped into the loser bracket on Sunday, losing to Williamsport 11-4. Williamsport is in the winner’s bracket final set for Tuesday against defending champion Montoursville; Montour advanced with a 16-1 win over Muncy.
