Mill Hall Bridge Work Continues
MILL HALL — Contractors say the recent high water on Fishing Creek has caused no major problems as replacement work continues for the Mill Hall Bridge on Main Street (Route 2016) in the borough.
Clearwater Construction, Inc. of Mercer, PA is the contractor for the $2.2 million project. Work includes construction of the new bridge, water line relocation, sidewalk, drainage, and guide rail improvements, and roadway paving.
PennDOT said the existing bridge over Fishing Creek was structurally deficient. It is being replaced with a two-span concrete spread box beam bridge. Built in 1933, the old bridge was 114 feet long and carried an average of almost 1,300 vehicles each day.
Meanwhile a detour is in place. The detour directs drivers to use Route 64, Route 150 (Eagle Valley Road), Pennsylvania Avenue, and Main Street in Mill Hall. Pedestrians can continue to use the current bridge.
The detour will be in place throughout the project, which is scheduled to last through October. PennDOT will open the new bridge earlier if work progress allows.
