LOCK HAVEN — By this time next week these longstanding trees in front of the Fallon Hotel will be gone, part of the City of Lock Haven’s ongoing downtown beautification work.

City Hall announced today the East Water Street Streetscape Project, from N. Vesper to N. Grove Sts., will begin next Wednesday starting with the removal of the handful of trees still standing along that block. On Monday, June 8, work will begin on the south side of E. Water St. Work will involve new curbing, brick sidewalks, ornamental lighting and new trees.

City planner Leonora Hannagan said the new trees will be a mix of Silver Linden and American Hornbeam, smaller in scale than their predecessors in front of the Fallon.

Project contractor is Wolyniec Construction, Inc. of Williamsport. City manager Rich Marcinkevage said parking on both sides Water between Vesper and Grove Sts. will be prohibited.
