Shikellamy Holds Off Central Mountain in Close Matchup
MILL HALL-The Central Mountain Wildcats hosted Shikellamy on Saturday night in a closely contested matchup, ultimately falling 53-49. The loss dropped Central Mountain to 5-9 on the season, while Shikellamy improved to 3-13.
Shikellamy got off to a strong start, outscoring Central Mountain 14-10 in the first quarter. The Braves continued their solid play in the second quarter, adding 19 points to take a 33-25 lead into halftime. Central Mountain responded in the second half, but Shikellamy’s consistent shooting and defensive effort allowed them to maintain their advantage.
Noah Wells led the Wildcats with 18 points, including a three-pointer and three free throws. Hunter Hoy contributed 14 points, while Jeremy Reese added 6. Caleb Mahoney chipped in 2 points, Darius Shade hit a three-pointer, and Blake Walker and Isah Dorman each scored 4 and 2 points, respectively. Despite their efforts, Central Mountain struggled to close the gap, finishing 7-for-11 from the free-throw line.
Shikellamy’s scoring attack was led by Alex Peifer, who tallied 15 points with four three-pointers. Xavier Fashaw added 11 points, including three three-pointers, while Asher Moyer scored 12 points. Charlie Walter contributed 8 points, and Justin Zeigler added 5, including a three-pointer.
Central Mountain outscored Shikellamy in the second half, but the Braves’ early lead proved too much to overcome.
