Clinton County Prepares to Honor Service and Sacrifice This Memorial Day

Local Ceremonies, Flag Displays, and Parades Planned Around the County

CLINTON COUNTY — As Memorial Day approaches, communities across Clinton County are preparing to pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation. A full slate of services, ceremonies, and public displays will take place throughout the holiday weekend, offering residents and visitors numerous opportunities to remember and reflect.

Lock Haven VFW Post 1630 to Lead Sunday Services
Lock Haven’s VFW Post 1630 will host a series of Memorial Day services on Sunday, May 25, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Members of the public are invited to attend and participate in honoring local veterans at the following locations:
•7:30 AM – Meet at VFW Post 1630
•7:45 AM – Depart Post
•8:00 AM – Highland Cemetery (Soldier’s Circle)
•8:15 AM – Saint Mary’s Cemetery
•8:30 AM – Sunnyside Cemetery
•9:00 AM – Cedar Hill Cemetery (Bland J. Rossman’s Grave)
•9:15 AM – Flemington Cemetery
•9:30 AM – Return to Post 1630 (15-minute break)
•10:15 AM – Farrandsville
•10:45 AM – Dunnstown Cemetery
•11:00 AM – Rest Haven Cemetery
•11:30 AM – Veterans Park
•11:45 AM – Civil War Monument
All times are approximate and may be affected by travel. This year’s observances will include special recognition at a Vietnam veteran’s grave in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

Flags of Honor Display Returns to Triangle Park
The Flags of Honor display will once again be featured at Triangle Park in Lock Haven, located at the intersection of Main Street and Bellefonte Avenue. Beginning Friday, May 23, American flags will be placed throughout the park in memory or honor of veterans, active service members, first responders, educators, and loved ones who have made a lasting impact.

Each flagpole will bear a plaque with the honoree’s name and branch of service.
A public ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, and the display will remain up through Sunday, June 1, allowing visitors time to walk among the flags and pay their respects.

Renovo Observances Scheduled for Sunday Morning
On the morning of Sunday, May 25, the Western Clinton County Veterans—including members of the local American Legion, VFW, and Marine Corps League—will conduct Memorial Day services at various locations in and around Renovo. The schedule is as follows:
•8:00 AM – Meet at American Legion Post #442
•9:00 AM – Lower Hyner Cemetery
•9:15 AM – Hyner Catholic Cemetery
•9:30 AM – North Bend Firehall
•9:40 AM – Keller Darby Memorial
•9:50 AM – North Bend Cemetery
•10:00 AM – Fairview Cemetery
Break- Return to Post 442
•10:30 AM – Tank at 16th Street
•10:45 AM – South Renovo Memorial
•11:00 AM – Carmen R. Rosamilia Bridge (Center)
•11:15 AM – Drury’s Run Memorial

The public is invited and encouraged to attend any or all of the scheduled stops.

Beech Creek Memorial Services and Parade
On Monday, May 26, American Legion Post 623 of Beech Creek will continue its long-standing tradition of honoring fallen service members. The day’s events begin with a series of honor firings at local cemeteries and conclude with a community parade:
•8:00 AM – Post Memorial
•8:30 AM – Hayes-Fearon-Bossert Cemetery
•9:00 AM – Clark Cemetery
•9:45 AM – Liberty Baptist Cemetery
•10:00 AM – Memorial Day Parade through Beech Creek

The parade has been a cherished part of the community for more than a century and continues to draw residents of all ages.

Veterans Park to Host Free Evening Concert
After a day of remembrance, the community is invited to come together for an evening of music at Veterans Park in Lock Haven. The “Rock the Park” concert, sponsored by the VFW and the Clinton County Arts Council, will take place on Sunday, May 25.

The street will close at 3:00 PM, with live music from 5:00–9:00 PM, featuring performances by RIZE and Pedulum, a tribute band honoring the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The event is free and open to the public.
From morning services to evening celebrations, this year’s Memorial Day events offer a blend of remembrance, reflection, and community spirit. All are welcome to attend.
