Streaking Wildcats handle Shamokin in 5 innings, 13-2

COAL TOWNSHIP- Central Mountain baseball hit the road on Monday afternoon to take on PHAC opponents Shamokin. The Wildcats pounded out 12 hits and received strong pitching efforts from Jase Seltzer and Nate Wian to down the Indians 13-2 in five innings.
Central Mountain exploded for 7 runs in the top of the first inning to set the tempo for Seltzer on the hill.
Seltzer, the senior hurler used the comfortable lead to comfortably cruise through 3 innings of work, while not allowing an earned run. He also struck out 3 Indians during that span.
The Wildcats added a run in the second and another in the third inning to build a 9-0 lead.
With Shamokin’s offense struggling, the Wildcats offense only kept attacking in the top of the fourth inning. Central Mountain tacked on 4 more runs to build a 13-0 lead.
The Indians had a skirmish in bottom of the fourth inning by crossing two unearned runs on Wian. Wian allowed no earned runs in his 2 innings of work, collecting two strike outs.
Neither team scored in the final inning of play to give the Wildcats the run rule victory over Shamokin.
Wian led the ferocious Central Mountain attack by going 4 for 4 at the plate with a double 3 runs batted in and a pair of runs scored. Malaky Moyd collected a two-hit game with a double and two runs scored. Darius Shade had another multiple hit day for the Wildcats. Shade had a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Blake Walker added a double, Seltzer, Watt Probst and Isaiah Maldonado also collected hits for the Wildcats.
Shamokin dropped to 3-5 on the season. Central Mountain remained perfect at 7-0 and will next meet Williamsport in Mill Hall on Wednesday.
