Downtown Rotary Offers Student Awards
LOCK HAVEN — The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven will give three scholarships for 2025 Central Mountain High School graduating seniors. Each award is in memory of a well-known local Rotarian.
The Eleanor E.J. Kodish Memorial Scholarship goes to a graduating senior who will study toward a career in education at Commonwealth University — Mansfield. If no senior meets that criteria, C.U. — Lock Haven will be substituted for Mansfield. If there is still no senior meeting the criteria, Penn State University will be substituted.
The Dr. Betty Baird Schantz Memorial Scholarship is for an active member of Interact, which is the Rotary organization for high school students.
The club will contribute $2,000 for each of these two scholarships.
The Roberta M. Way Memorial Scholarship is for a college-bound graduating senior who demonstrates academics, commitment, and community service and is pursuing a career in education. The award is $1,500, with her family giving two-thirds of the amount and the rest of the funds from the former Rotary Club of Mill Hall Sunrise.
Donations are welcome to help honor the legacies of these women. Checks may be made out to Downtown Lock Haven Rotary and mailed to P.O. Box 634, Lock Haven PA 17745. Please write the name of the scholarship in the memo line.
