Lady Bucks drop slugfest at Canton 13-11

By Bees O’Brien

Canton- Canton entered their contest with visiting Bucktail with an 0-3 record, but that record was deceiving. The Lady Warriors are loaded with plenty of offense, playing in an offensive crazy NTL.

The Lady Bucks took charge early by plating a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. After allowing Canton to score a single run in the bottom of the second inning, Bucktail found their groove in the top of fourth inning scoring four runs to hold a 6-1 lead.

Then the rain came.

The Lady Bucks couldn’t find a way to fight off the elements, as they allowed Canton to plate 9 runs in their half of the fourth inning. The lead grew to 11-6 following a lone fifth inning run.

Bucktail fought back by scoring a single run in the sixth, but the Lady Warriors matched them in the home half of the inning.

Trailing 12-7, Bucktail again battled back in the final inning. The Lady Bucks nearly came back from a 13-7 hole by scoring four runs, but it wouldn’t be enough on this day.

Bucktail outhit Canton 12-6, but five errors were too much to overcome.

Makenna Stone’s 3 hits led Bucktail. Stone collected a double and a triple along with 4 runs batted in. Lola English and Matti Mason each collected 2 hits, with English collecting a double. Kendall Wagner, Hailey Dent and Rebecca Conway each added singles. Wagner batted in 3 runs.

Bucktail, now 1-2 will have a huge test at home on Tuesday when they face rival Montgomery. The Lady Red Raiders are off to a 3-0 start and are 2-0 in conference play.
