Severe Storm Slams Renovo: Widespread Damage But No Reported Injuries

By Kevin Rauch

RENOVO – Area fire and emergency crews are out in force following a strong wind and hail storm that swept through the greater Renovo area leaving destruction in its aftermath. Despite many trees and outdoor property being scattered throughout the area, no immediate injuries were reported.

Just after 2:00 p.m. residents of western Clinton County received emergency alerts for a Tornado Warning between 2:30-3:00 p.m..

Right around 3 p.m. the heavy rains and quarter sized hail drew the skies black as the storm unleashed the damaging winds. People are still assessing the damage to their property as reports of trees in houses and garages are numerous.

Trees lay scattered along RT 120 and all roads in the area. Very few if not all residents can see at least minor damage the storm caused from their front porch. It was that widespread.

One immediate concern was the roof that flew off of a neighboring building and landed onto the American Legion Post 442 roof and parking lot leaving the remnants hanging off the Legion. No injuries occurred following initial reports.
