Obituary – Thomas P. Smolko
Thomas P. Smolko, 86, of Renovo, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home in Green Valley, AZ.
He was born in Snow Shoe, PA and was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Granite) Smolko.
On May 18, 1963 Thomas married the late Jane (Ross) and they celebrated 57 years of marriage together until her death on March 15, 2021.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the coal mines in Renovo, PA. Later, he went on to work for PennDOT.
Thomas was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Renovo and Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Green Valley, AZ. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Green Valley, AZ where he and Jane had made many friends over the years. Tom loved going to the casino and watching the Yankee baseball games.
He is survived by one son; Thomas R. Smolko of Belmar, NJ and seven sisters; Joanie, Martha, Margie, Jannette, Betty, Marion and Dorothy.
In addition to his parents and wife, Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers; George and Donald Smolko.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo with Father Joseph Orr officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner.
