Obituary – George William “Bill” Bovier

George William “Bill” Bovier, 78 of South Highland Street, Lock Haven, PA passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2025, at his residence.

Bill was born on December 4, 1946, in Canton, PA to the late Max F and Edna Smith Bovier. He was united in marriage April 27, 1996, to Marilyn Ann Bailey Bovier, who survives.

Bill leaves behind two sons, Wayne (Angela) Bovier of Arlington, VA and Clint (Cathrine) Bovier of Middletown, PA, two grandsons, Carsen and Joshua Bovier, a stepdaughter Andrea (Michael) King of Franklin, Delaware, a sister Elaine Gustafon of Canton, PA, five step-grandchildren, Alexandra and Bayli Jenkins, Garrett, Aaron and Sarah, as well as two sisters-in-law, Susan Lunger of Jersey Shore, PA and Kathleen (Blair) Thomas of Gettysburg, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Bill was raised on his family’s farm in Canton and as a teenager helped in the family’s small grocery store in West Franklin. He was a 1964 graduate of the Towanda High School and a member of the Black Knights marching band. After High School he proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Kassel, Germany from 1965 to 1969. He was a cryptographic machine operator. Upon his return to the states he had a long career as a technician and salesman for Select Sires, then Sire Power retiring in 2012.

Bill was a member of the Covenant Methodist Church in Lock Haven and enjoyed his church family and helping out wherever he could. He had numerous interests and hobbies including being a member of his church’s choir and the Lock Haven Community Chorus. He was a founding member of the Woolrich Lions Club. For thirty plus years he was the “camp cook” at the Poe Valley Hunting Club. He enjoyed gardening and reading (always with a book in hand), traveling the US with his wife and only had four more states to visit. Besides the time he spent in Germany, he visited France, Ireland, The Caribbean, Nova Scotia, and Canada.

Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and all the great customers he hung out with at the Dunnstown Diner.

Bill was a friend to all and never hesitated giving a hand to anyone in need. He was greatly loved by his wife, family and friends and will be truly missed.

Funeral services for George William “Bill” Bovier will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, February 14th, 2025 in the Covenant Methodist Church, 44 West Main Street, Lock Haven, PA. Family and friends will be received in the church 1 hour prior to services.

Officiating will be Pastor Justin Freer of the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Church or the Lock Haven Community Chorus.
