Unclaimed Property Reported in City, County Limits State Treasurer Representatives Available Today
By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN – A simple search of the State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property database online shows thousands of entries of unclaimed property are waiting to be claimed.
“It’s not just money, it could be military awards,” Mayor Joel Long said during Monday’s City Council meeting.
Representatives from the State Treasurer’s Office will be set up at Lock Haven City Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday to help people search for their unclaimed property.
Most of the listings online report whether the unclaimed property is either under or over $100.
“Lock Haven City Police Department and the City Treasurer’s Office have unclaimed property listed online; it is not a significant amount, but it is still something,” City Manager Greg Wilson reported.
“Being a college town, it could have been from people who used to live here, something like a security deposit,” Wilson said.
People are encouraged to stop by today between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to search online for their unclaimed property.
“It is as simple as giving a last name and a zipcode,” Wilson said.
