cm-baseballMILL HALL—The Central Mountain baseball team needed a win after a couple recent close losses and they got one with relative ease on Monday, a 10-3 pasting of winless (0-4) Midd-West.

There was the 3-1 loss at Jersey Shore Friday, followed by an 8-7 road loss Saturday at the home of the state’s top-ranked team, Altoona.

After those two toughies, Midd-West was a welcome sight. The Wildcats did a lot of things right in moving to 6-3 overall, 6-2 in the Heartland Conference. There were a lot of contributors, including pitchers Cole Reeder and Alex Garbrick. The two juniors combined on a 4-hitter, Reeder picking up the win after going the first four innings, giving up two singles and no runs.

The Wildcat offense was in gear, picking up 11 hits, led by senior outfielder Kenny Heverly with a 2-for-2 performance, both doubles to go along with an RBI. Ethan McGill added two hits and a run batted in and Reeder helped his own cause with two singles and an RBI.

After an off-day Tuesday, the schedule picks up: a Wednesday conference showdown at first place Shikellamy, the Braves 4-1 in the Heartland, their lone loss to the Wildcats by a 10-0 score April 13, Heverly hurling a one-hitter for CM.

Thursday the Wildcats host Montoursville (1-2 in the conference) and Friday they travel to Mifflinburg (3-2 in conference play).
