Lady Bucks return to action in 40-29 loss at Meadowbrook Christian

MILTON- For the first time in 12 days, the Bucktail Lady Bucks returned to action following their battle with sickness. Their competition would be Meadowbrook Christian. The Lady Lions ended Bucktail’s 1A District IV playoff run in the semifinals a season ago.
Meadowbrook took advantage of the Bucktail layoff early by jumping out to a 10-1 lead after one quarter. The Lady Bucks finally found their rhythm in the second quarter. Bucktail outscored Meadowbrook Christian 10-8 in the second frame, but trailed the hosts 18-11 at the break.
A slim 9-8 Lady Lions’ advantage in the third quarter gave them a 27-19 lead over the Lady Bucks entering the fourth and final quarter. An 11-10 Meadowbrook Christian fourth quarter sealed the deal in a 40-29 victory for the Lady Lions.
Matti Mason led Bucktail with 15 points. Kendall Wagner had a monster game in the paint for Bucktail. Wagner scored 8 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and swatted away 7 Lady Lion shot attempts.
The victory pushed Meadowbrook’s overall record to 8-5 on the season and slid them into second place in the current District IV 1A standings. Bucktail, now 4-10 remained in seventh place in the current standings. The Lady Bucks will next meet Benton (8-7) Friday in Farwell in a pivotal showdown.
