Wildcats Battle but Fall to Tyrone in Hard-Fought Contest

MILL HALL-Central Mountain hosted Tyrone on Monday night in what, on paper, seemed like an easy win for the Golden Eagles. However, the Wildcats fought hard throughout the game, refusing to back down and played some of their best basketball of the season. Ultimately, Tyrone (11-3) prevailed with a 70-67 victory, dropping Central Mountain to 6-10 on the season.

The Wildcats kept things competitive, trading momentum with Tyrone across all four quarters. After trailing 22-17 at the end of the first quarter, Central Mountain tightened up defensively in the second, closing the gap to just one point at halftime, 38-37. Tyrone responded with a strong third quarter, edging the Wildcats 16-12. Central Mountain surged in the final quarter with a 21-point effort, but Tyrone matched that with 21 points of their own to hold on for the win.

Hunter Hoy led the Wildcats with an impressive 27 points. Caleb Mahoney added 12 points and contributed several key blocks on the defensive end. Blake Walker chipped in 11 points, while Max Verrelli provided 8. Darius Shade scored 6 points, and Noah Wells rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

The Wildcats will be right back at it, hosting a struggling Midd-West team with a 2-12 record on Tuesday.
