Wildcats Secure Dominant Road Win Over Bulldogs
JERSEY SHORE – The Central Mountain boys basketball team picked up a crucial conference victory on Friday night, defeating Jersey Shore 49-33 in a Heartland Athletic Conference Division I matchup. The Wildcats improved to 6-10 overall and 3-4 in conference play with the win.
Central Mountain used a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to outlast the Bulldogs, who dropped to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
The Wildcats and Bulldogs were neck-and-neck after the first quarter, tied at 9-9, but Central Mountain took control in the second quarter, outscoring Jersey Shore 17-6 to head into halftime with a commanding lead. The Wildcats maintained their edge through the second half, ensuring the Bulldogs could never mount a serious comeback.
Darius Shade provided a spark off the bench for Central Mountain, knocking down three three-pointers en route to a 9-point performance. Max Verrelli also contributed from long range, hitting two three-pointers and finishing with 11 points. Blake Walker added 10 points on the night, while Hunter Hoy chipped in with 10 points of his own, including one three-pointer. Other points came from Caleb Mahoney 5, Noah Wells 2 and Isah Dorman 2.
Central Mountain’s defensive effort was key in limiting the Bulldogs’ scoring opportunities. Jersey Shore was held to single digits in three of the four quarters, with no Bulldog player reaching double figures. Jude Teneyck led Jersey Shore with 7 points, including one three-pointer, while Landon Lathan added 8 points and Ben Dalton scored 6.
