Red-hot LHU Women’s Basketball continues to roll, soars past Millersville at home
LOCK HAVEN– In a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle between the first-place Lock Haven women’s basketball team and third-place Millersville, the Bald Eagles soared to an 81-51 victory on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25) inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
The red-hot Bald Eagles extended their winning streak to four games, all victories coming against East opponents, and are now 13-5 overall and 8-4 in the PSAC. Millersville falls to 6-6 in conference and 11-8 on the season.
The Bald Eagles hold a two-game lead over Bloomsburg in the PSAC East and have now won four straight games against the Marauders.
Lock Haven’s 30-point victory is its largest margin of victory in conference this season.
Led by seven assists by Kiera Baughman, the Bald Eagles dished out a season-high 23 assists. Baughman added 17 points and three steals and knocked down three triples.
Madeline Evans led both teams in scoring as she finished with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Jenadia Jordan starred on both ends of the floor and finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Alana Robinson added 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Rhlyn Rouse rounded out the Bald Eagles in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds.
Lock Haven set the tone defensively from the tip and held the Marauders to just two points in the first quarter, while forcing 12 turnovers.
The Haven held Millersville to 21 percent shooting in the first half and knocked down a scorching 62 percent (8-of-13) shots on offense in the second quarter to build a 40-17 advantage heading into the break.
In the second half, Millersville held a slight 23-18 scoring advantage in the third quarter, but the Bald Eagles got back on track and took the final period 23-12 to seal the victory.
