Central Mountain Girls Basketball Earns Hard-Fought Victory Over South Williamsport

MILL HALL-The Central Mountain girls basketball team earned a much-needed home win Monday night, defeating South Williamsport 63-53 in a competitive matchup. The Wildcats used a balanced scoring effort and strong second-half defense to secure the victory and improve to 6-6 on the season.

Central Mountain built an early lead, outscoring South Williamsport 14-9 in the first quarter and maintaining their momentum with a 20-point second quarter to head into halftime up 34-27. South Williamsport fought back with a 13-point third quarter, but Central Mountain sealed the game with an 18-point final period.

Lena Walker led the Wildcats with 19 points, showcasing her ability to attack the basket and convert at key moments. Camdyn Weaver added 17 points with a mix of perimeter shooting and drives, while Taylor Doyle chipped in 12 points to round out the offensive firepower. Ava Doyle contributed 8 points, and Elise McKean and Macy Plowman added 5 and 2 points, respectively.

For South Williamsport, Abby Akers was a standout performer, pouring in a game-high 28 points in an impressive individual effort. Despite her performance, the Mounties couldn’t overcome Central Mountain’s balanced attack and consistent play.

With the win, Central Mountain will look to carry their momentum into Wednesday’s matchup at Danville. The Wildcats will return home Saturday to face rival Jersey Shore, who currently holds an 11-3 record.

The Lady Wildcats won the JV contest against South in a very low scoring affair 23-11 with Shai Fullerton leading the way for the Lady Cats with 14 points.
