Obituary – William Abraham “Billy” Packer

William Abraham “Billy” Packer, 70, formerly of Orviston passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Susque View where for several years he was affectionately known as the “Sheriff,” complete with hat and badge.
Born September 8, 1954 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late William and Pearl (Shuey) Packer.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Judy Packer, Claude (Butch) Packer, Joyce Conaway, Terry Packer and Janet (Bob) Miller.

Billy was affiliated with the Orviston Bible Church and enjoyed his visits with Pastor Steele.
In fact, Billy enjoyed talking and laughing with everyone in his life. Billy’s joy was infectious and his quick humor was certain to make others laugh.

Besides the people in his life, nothing gave him more enjoyment than watching and talking football. He was an avid Steelers and Penn State fan, “loudly” cheering them on every game.

Billy always had his stereo, boombox or CD player playing country music, especially Tim McGraw, which he not only listened to but sang along with (almost as enthusiastically as he cheered for his football teams). He also enjoyed playing and collecting cards, which he never seemed to have enough of!

Surviving is his sister, Brenda Lannan of Orviston; nieces and nephews: Douglas (Beth) Packer, Cheryl (Denny) Breon, Rich Miller, George (Jessica) Conaway, Amy (Jonathan) Rooks and David (Jennifer) Lannan; and lots of great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews whom he loved to tease, visit and talk “football” with.

Billy’s family extends their appreciation to his many friends, and especially to his roommate, Tom, who looked out for him. He will be missed by all who knew him. It gives us peace to know he is at home with Jesus, enjoying his new body and having a wonderful reunion with family and friends!

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Billy’s name may be made to Clinton County SPCA, c/o Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
