Northwest scorches nets, beats Bucktail 64-36
By Bees O’Brien
Farwell- Bucktail’s 2025 “Pink Out” games closed with a bit of a downer for the home squad. Northwest came ready to shoot and that’s exactly what brother Josh and Ryan Miner did to the Bucks on Friday night.
Northwest toasted Bucktail from both inside and outside in the first quarter and built a secure 27-4 lead after one quarter.
The Bucks did get some offense rolling in the second quarter, but the 23-point hole was too staggering to overcome.
The Miner duo accounted for 33 of the Rangers’ 44 first half points to Bucktail’s 17.
Josh and Ryan Miner finished up their nights in the third quarter before the Rangers allowed their second units to come in. Josh finished with 21 points and Ryan had 25 points, to lead all scorers. They also netted a combined 8 three-point baskets in the contest.
Gary Whipp and Ethan Charcalla both led the Bucks with 9 points each. Brody Pentz added 8 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 5 assists.
The Bucks outscored Northwest 23-20 in the second half, a positive key as they move on to a critical game at Millville (3-6) on Tuesday in what will go a long way in the PIAA District IV 1A standings.
Bucktail (4-6) currently sits in the third place spot in 1A within the district.
