Lady Bucks put up strong effort against Northwest at home Friday night

Farwell- Northwest junior point guard Ashlyn Hermanofski is good on defense, really good on defense. The visiting Lady Rangers needed every single of her 19 steals on the night to fight off a valiant Bucktail effort.
Northwest used their depth to build a strong 13-3 lead after one quarter of play. Head coach Suellen Wagner’s outnumbered Lady Bucks could have just tucked their tails and called it quits, but not these Lady Bucks.
Bucktail dominated the second quarter, forcing turnovers and connecting on key baskets. Bucktail’s domination in the second quarter with a 13-6 advantage had the hosts down just 19-16 at the break.
Hermanofski then took over in the third quarter, swiping steals from Bucktail left and right. She converted on some easy break away layups and just like that, one of the District’s top 2A squad held a commanding 36-19 lead following a 17-6 quarter to open the half.
The Lady Rangers kept the pressure on Bucktail with a 15-3 fourth quarter to set the final at 51-22.
Kendall Wagner led Bucktail with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Eva Sockman netted 5 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Bucktail. Matti Mason scored 7 points.
Northwest improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in Mid Penn Conference play. Bucktail dropped to 4-7 on the season and 2-3 within the conference. Bucktail will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Millville (5-4, 4-2) in the first meeting between the two programs since Bucktail defeated the Lady Quakers in the District IV 1A quarterfinals last season.
