Reeder’s 3-Run Dinger the Difference Maker

cm-softballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Already saddled with a couple Heartland Conference losses, the highly regarded Central Mountain Lady Wildcats did not want a third one as they faced off Tuesday with undefeated and conference leading Mifflinburg.

The home-standing ‘Cats did not disappoint as they held off the visiting Lady Wildcats in a taut, quickly played 3-2 win. The victory put Central Mountain at 5-2 and dropped Mifflinburg to 7-1.

Junior Sarah Reeder provided all the offense Central Mountain would need, breaking a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning when she drove the ball over the centerfield fence for a three run homer. Jess Strouse had led off the inning with a double and Bree Hilty followed with a single, setting the stage for Reeder’s dinger.

Mifflinburg would come back in the top of the sixth, taking advantage of two Lady ‘Cat infield errors to plate two unearned runs, but would score no more. Sophomore Ashley Glossner went the first six innings for Central Mountain, giving up five hits and the unearned runs. Junior Emily Strouse finished with one inning of one-hit relief to pick up the save.
