Betty Jane Confer Lyons – Obituary

ObitArtBetty Jane Confer Lyons, 90, a resident of Susque View Home passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born in Howard on August 11, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Lloyd W. and Mary M Uhl Bechdel.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Howard High School.

She was united in marriage to Daniel D. Confer who preceded her in death on May 3, 1960.

In her early years Betty was employed by Piper Aircraft, Bobbie Brooks, and the Lock Haven Hospital. She then worked as a Lab Technician for American Color and Chemical until their closing. Betty was then employed by Wise Chiropractic until her retirement.

She was a member of the Laurel Run United Methodist Church.

Betty loved her cats but most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family.

Surviving are three children: Harriet C. Lyons (Alan R.) Edwards of Mill Hall, Cathy V. (Roger) Prowant of DuBoistown; and Glenda K. Lyons of Lock Haven; a daughter-in-law, Mary L. Confer of Red Lion; five grandchildren: Michael D. Confer, Brion (Jennifer) Morris, Brenda (Michael) Freezer, Carla J. Rickard (Travis Gibbon), and Eric M. (Mary) Huggins; nine great-grandchildren: Cicly and Sofie Confer, Jake and Benjamin Moms, Sarah and Hannah Freezer, Anthony and Demetries Tomasic, and Emerson C. Gibbon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Confer, Sr.; two grandsons, Gary L. “Hoss” Confer, Jr. and Anthony G. “Tony” Tomasic, Jr.; six sisters: Erma Bechdel, Edna Etters, Relda Strouse, Mildred Gorham, Florence Strouse, and Viola Phillips; and a brother, Harry Bechdel.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with the Rev. Bruce Wallace officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Laurel Run United Methodist Church or the Clinton County S.P.C.A. through the funeral home.
