Wawa project past PennDOT hurdle and more at Bald Eagle Township meeting

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Bald Eagle Township Supervisors met Monday evening for their monthly meeting. It was a very “business as usual” meeting, only lasting approximately 30 minutes.
In terms of communications received, Bald Eagle Township heard from Brightspeed, the company that purchased the former DSL internet customers of Lumen Technologies, the parent company over CenturyLink.
“They will be coming here in 2025 to upgrade lines in Homestead Estates and a portion of Bald Eagle Mountain,” township secretary/treasurer Marissa Morgan said. “I also heard from PennDOT that they are working on Hogan Boulevard safety, testing new signal equipment that will be under warranty after 30 days. As well, SEDA-COG will be holding meetings on road safety reviews of the county in the coming weeks.”
Old business items were discussed, including long-awaited news that the new Wawa proposed for Eagle Valley Road in Mill Hall has officially corrected items related to PennDOT requirements and that, “they are looking to proceed with submitting their state highway permit application.” This is a major step forward for the project which may soon see some initial building phases in the next several weeks.
The Take 5 oil and lube change facility is also proceeding as planned next to Sheetz on Hogan Boulevard.
Ever looking toward the future, Bald Eagle Township unsealed bids for new mini-split air conditioner units for their office and meeting room spaces.
“It is not a good idea to repair the old units,” Township Supervisor Steve Tasselli said.
Bids received were from Pat Neff for $7,085, Goodfellas HVAC for $8,500, and Lock Haven Plumbing & Heating for $6,933. Supervisors voted in favor of going with the lowest bid from Lock Haven Plumbing & Heating.
As for new business, the township voted in favor of holding Trick-or-Treat night on Halloween night, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. As well, the entrance to Homestead Estates will be closed to non-residents to provide trick-or-treaters a safe way to navigate the neighborhood in the dark.
Also briefly discussed and voted on was Bald Eagle Township employees annual Christmas bonus, which was increased to $700.
