Downtown Rotary Gives Back to Community
LOCK HAVEN – The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven recently donated to three local nonprofit organizations.
Boxes of Hope, the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank, and Haven Cupboard were invited to bring displays and literature to the club’s People of Action Open House. During the evening, the club presented them with $500 each.
The donations represent funds the club raised during the 2023-24 Rotary year, thanks to the public’s support of Rotary projects like Flags of Honor for Memorial Day and Angel Lights for 9/11.
In 2023-24, the Downtown Rotary Club also gave $5,500 in scholarships to Central Mountain High School, as well as roughly $5,000 to other good causes, including local food programs and the global fight to wipe polio off the face of the earth. That’s more than $10,000.
The individual Rotarians gave 1,151 volunteer hours to club projects, a value of $36,602.
“We may be small in number, but together we do big things,” club president Marianne Lotfi said.
