Obituary – Betty Jane Weaver
Betty Jane Weaver, 92, of Auction Road Mill Hall, PA., passed away at home on September 20, 2024. Betty was born May 1, 1932, in Bellefonte and was the daughter of the late John A. and Elva Burket Brownson. She was married to Harris L. Weaver who preceded her in death on December 31, 1999.
Betty was a member of the Mackeyville Church of Christ until it closed and then joined the First Church of Christ in Flemington. She had worked at the former Sylvania Plant for several years. Together with her husband, they started farming in 1954 at their dairy farm in Rote.
She was a 4-H sewing leader for many years, made quilts for family members and donated many quilts to various organizations. Betty was a member of the Clinton County Fair Association, Salona grange and Mill Hall Senior Center where she delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years and played cards every week. She was a supporter of the Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp. She loved sewing, playing cards, word puzzles, camping at Benezette and Ives Run and especially spending time with family.
Survivors include two daughters, Irene (Jay) Matthews of Rote, PA and Margaret (Matthew) Snyder of Tylersville, PA. two sons, Steven (Bonnie) Weaver Sr. of Rote, PA and George (Patty) Weaver of Rote, PA. One brother, Willard “Buzz” Brownson of Howard, PA, a sister Donna Heaton of Blanchard, PA, a sister-in-law Lois Nyman of Blanchard, PA and a brother-in-law Robert DeArment of Howard, PA. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Also surviving are 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grandchildren and eight Great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Betty Jane Weaver will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the First Church of Christ in Flemington, 714 Canal Street, Mill Hall, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Riley assisted by Betty’s great-grandson, Associate Pastor Clayton Hanley of the Pine Creek Valley Christian Church. Friends and family will be received in the church, one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Romola Cemetery, Curtin Township, Centre County PA at the convenience of the Family.
In lieu of flowers memorials will be accepted to the First Church of Christ, 714 Canal Street, Mill Hall, PA 17751
