RENOVO In a heartwarming display of community support, the Bucktail Band Booster Club was presented with a substantial donation of $500 from the North Bend/Hyner United Methodist Women on Monday, September 16. The donation was graciously handed over by dedicated UMW President, Fif Kepler and other members Diane Tolomay, Pat Lundfelt, Patricia Lacy and Gail Long. The presentation was attended by Bucktail Band Booster President Dennis Smith, Treasurer, Terry O’laughlin, Secretary Autumn Gavlock and Brandon Kahley, Director of the Bucktail Campus Middle/ High School & Renovo Elementary Band/Music Program.

The North Bend/Hyner United Methodist Women, formerly known as the United Women in Faith, have been dedicated to serving their community for over 156 years, with the current team active for more than 30 years. This committed group focuses on organizing missions that benefit women, children, and youth, showcasing their determination to enhance the lives of those in their community. They currently support local initiatives such as the Bald Eagle Boys Camp, the Muncy Women’s Correctional Facility, WCCRA, and the Renovo Elementary PTO. Additionally, they have purchased items to aid various causes, including the Bucktail Campus Comfort Closet, the Neighborhood Center in Harrisburg, the Renovo Salvation Army, the LH Women’s Center, and GiGi boxes for cancer patients. These purchases are funded through their Terri Lynn nut order sales, which are ongoing until October.

Moreover, the North Bend/Hyner United Women in Faith prepare over 100 mission kits for national and international emergencies, among many other causes they support. This remarkable organization is deeply committed to making a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

The Bucktail Band Boosters, a newly established organization, is passionate about supporting their local youth marching band and other music programs. Recently, they have been actively fundraising at local events such as The Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park’s annual Youth Murder Mystery Dinner “Echoes of Maxwell’s,” Bucktail football games, the Budstock Music Festival, and several outdoor concerts sponsored by GRAHP.

The funds raised, including this generous donation, are designated for the purchase of 35 new band uniforms. The current uniforms, which have not been updated in over two decades, are in dire need of replacement. The Bucktail Band Boosters are committed to ensuring that their students have the best possible resources to continue their musical journey.

The Boosters are always seeking new members who share their enthusiasm for keeping music alive in local schools. Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the Sportsman’s Restaurant, and all interested individuals are encouraged to attend.

The Bucktail Band Boosters, along with the Bucktail Marching Band members, express their sincere gratitude to the North Bend/Hyner United Methodist Women for their generous contribution and to their community for their ongoing support. They are excited about upcoming events and will provide more information in the near future.
