Rebuilding Mode for Buck’s Baseball

by Jim Morgan

bucks-baseballFARWELL – The 2015 Bucktail Bucks baseball team roster will give you a false appearance of an experienced team as 16 of the 17 player roster are seniors and juniors but half of them are first year players. Most of them never played baseball or not since they were in Little League.

Buck seniors are Collin Burrows, Ryan Fantaskey, Blake Gavlock, Brandon Payne, Jonathan Probst, Kevin Probst and Aaron Ransdorf. Juniors are Anthony Intallura, Josh Knauff, Derrick Long, Josha Marr, Keifer Mason, Tom Miller, Ryan Prebble, Collin Spencer and Dylan Yednak. The only sophomore on the team is Richard Probst.

Coach Bill Probst is looking for pitchers, after the last couple of years of having pitchers like Chuck Probst, Trent Risley and Tony Saltsman. Coach Probst is looking hard at Burrows to be his ace pitcher to start out.Other arms that are showing coach Probst some promise are Fantaskey, Gavlock, Ransdorf, Knauff, Long, Marr, Mason and Miller. He is hoping to get three strong innings out of these pitchers.

Behind the plate will be Kevin Probst as he has been back there for all four years. Right now most of the infield is still up in the air as Ransdorf pretty much locked up the shortstop position. Depending who is pitching at the time will determine the following infielders: Fantaskey, Knauff, Long, Mason, Miller, Prebble and Spencer. The outfield will consist of Gavlock, Payne, J. Probst, Intallura, Knauff, Marr, Mason, Yednak and R. Probst.

The Bucks are in the same boat as the softball team as they have yet to see the baseball field until this past Tuesday. The field was still a little moist. The boys have been working hard indoors with basic fundamental exercises. Batting practice has been good as well.

Now the Bucks can’t wait until they can take the field on an everyday basis. The Bucks have already had their home opener scheduled for this Friday with Muncy postponed. Now the Home opener will be on Monday, March 30 against Warrior Run as the first pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
