Sugar Valley Golf Team Prepares For Transitional Season
LOGANTON-The Sugar Valley golf team is gearing up for a transitional season with a roster of six players, led by head coach Tyler Koser and assisted by Steve Bennett. This year, the team sees the return of two experienced starters, senior Bryer Martin and junior Remington Ripka, after graduating four seniors last season. The program is in a rebuilding phase, but Coach Koser is optimistic about the team’s potential.
Coach Koser has set clear goals for both the team and individual players. He is particularly focused on seeing Bryer Martin, a four-year starter, qualify for the district tournament. Martin has stepped up as a leader for the team, and his dedication over the years has positioned him well for success. Collectively, the team aims to improve with each match, despite facing tough competition in the Mid Penn Conference, with strong teams like Benton and Montgomery.
The off-season has been a time for growth, especially for the newer members of the team. Players like Layden Bryan, Landon Pletcher, and Logan Leland have shown promise, and with only three official practices before the first match, Coach Koser is eager to see how they rise to the challenges of the season.
The team’s strength this year lies in its competitive spirit and supportive environment. The players are pushing each other to improve, and Coach Koser is focused on helping them develop smart play strategies and mental toughness—essential skills for success in golf.
One of the biggest challenges this season is getting the younger players up to speed quickly. The short golf season means every practice is crucial for building a foundation for future success. The schedule includes challenging matches in the Mid Penn Conference, with the annual Susquehanna River Rivalry being a key highlight. Additionally, the team is excited about a new 18-hole match at Lost Creek, offering a fresh experience on an unfamiliar course.
Coach Koser also extended a special thank you to Belles Springs Golf Course, where Judd Caruso and his team work tirelessly to maintain excellent conditions for the team’s practices and matches. Their ongoing support is greatly appreciated and plays a significant role in the team’s success and the broader golf community in the area.
