Woodward Township Supervisors Approve Zoning Board Appointment, Discuss Road Repairs, and Zoning Ordinance Updates
By Christopher Miller
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – Woodward Township Supervisors held their monthly regular meeting Tuesday evening at the township building.
The meeting was mostly a series of updates of projects around the township, along with letters of interest for the Zoning Hearing Board Vacancy.
Robert Everett, a township resident since 1982, expressed interest in being on the Zoning Hearing Board, along with township resident Heather Macfie. Supervisors voted in favor of Macfie joining the Zoning Hearing Board, but tabled Everett’s letter of interest for the next meeting.
The Road Report updated the supervisors on the Hillside Drive project, reporting that the project went “unscathed” and that the crew “hopes to get ice to stop forming on the road there” during the winter months. They also spoke briefly about half the road being washed out on a spot along Queen’s Run, and that the Conservation District, being mostly new staff members, referred to DEP for assistance. Part of the road ended up in Queen’s Run.
Supervisors also briefly discussed some possible changes coming to their Zoning Ordinances. These items may be revisited by the Zoning Hearing Board, but could include stipulations for new sheds and front line property in line with homes.
It was also reported that the rebuilt Nittany Minit Mart may be open for business by the end of September. The current location recently reinstated its 24-hour store hours.
Lastly, Dunnstown Fire Company reported that they attended the Night Out event last weekend and that it was a good event with quite a few people who attended.
