Obituary – Dolores R. Embick

Dolores R. Embick, 86, of Loganton passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024 at The Williamsport Home.

She was born July 16, 1938 to William and Beatrice (Bressler) Scaff.  Dolores spent her early childhood years growing up in Pittsburgh.  She graduated from Sugar Valley High School in 1956 where she excelled in her studies and music.

On June 9, 1956, she married her soulmate, Leonard D. Embick, with whom she shared more than 67 years of marriage before his passing on April 6, 2024.

In addition to working various jobs, she helped take care of her grandchildren.  She retired from Ingram’s Market at the age of 67.

A woman of strength and faith, she liked to read, garden- especially her flowers, bake and play cards.  Dolores had a wicked sense of humor.  She was an excellent cook who could make a delicious meal out of whatever she had on hand.  She taught many of life’s lessons with memorable stories.  Dolores could also make many of life’s hardships more bearable by simply listening and giving advice.  If she was a crayon, she would be yellow or coral.  The world was a brighter, happier place with her in it.

One of her greatest joys was that all of her children and their families got along and enjoyed each other’s company.

Surviving are her four children: Denise (Chris) Oechler, Michael (Marilou) Embick, Jean (Lucien) Snook and Laurie (Guy) Confer; 11 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; a sister, Patricia Weaver; a brother, Daniel (Diane) Scaff; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Scaff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren K. Embick; a grandson, Lucien M. Snook, III; an infant sister, Jean; and her brothers, David and William Scaff.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 1-5 PM in Tylersville at The Miller Barn, 3767 Narrows Rd., Loganton, PA 17747.

Memorial contributions in Dolores’ name may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, c/o Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
