Obituary – Shirley Jean Shaffer
Shirley Jean Shaffer passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, on her own terms at Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport. She was born April 30, 1939, the twin daughter of the late Ruby Wheeler Bilby and Fred Bilby, Sr.
Shirley worked at various jobs throughout her life and was known as the one to call if you needed help, as she would lend a hand to anyone in need.
Shirley is survived by her “womb mate,” True (John) Coleman; her son, Richard (Darlene) Shaffer; her daughter, Kathy (Norm) Chasse; three grandchildren, Eric (Dez) Koch, Nathan (Jess) Little and Kacie (Shawn) Snyder; six great grandchildren; a special cousin and friend, Glorianne Worden; a special niece, Teresa Simcox; three special nephews, Tom, Tony and Tim Gillott; other nieces and nephews; and her very special companion, Buster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Shaffer, Sr.; a baby girl, Shirley Jean; a brother, Fred Bilby, Jr.; and two sisters, Ella Mae Spade and Miriam Vonada.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745 with Pastors Jeff Bayliff and Doug Conway officiating.
A burial committal service will follow at Dunnstown Cemetery, Lock Haven.
Friends will be welcome on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Shirley’s name to be made to Gatehouse Hospice. Anyone wanting to aid the Gatehouse can also donate non-perishable items by brining them to the service.
