Obituary -Virginia Jean Shady
Virginia Jean Shady, 78, of Mill Hall, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home.
Born September 1, 1945 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald A. and Margaret J. Lindsay.
Ginny attended Holy Spirit Catholic School in Buffalo, NY.
On October 8, 1965 at the Blanchard Church of Christ, she married Korean War Veteran and love of her life, Richard B. “Dick” Shady, who preceded her in death December 31, 2017.
Ginny and Dick owned and operated the Beech Creek Country Tavern from 1961 to 1971 and Belles Springs Restaurant from 1985 to 1990.
She was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ.
Family was very important to Ginny and she dedicated herself to raising and supporting her children as well as all of their friends who also called her “Mom”. She enjoyed traveling and reading, but her true joy in life came to her when she was given the opportunity to offer comfort through cooking for others.
She is survived by five children, Leslie (David) Rakes, Kelly (Geoffrey) Brent, Randy (Pam) Shady, Shelly (Scott) Bower and Sherri (Darren McCauley) Shady; two brothers, Michael Lindsay and Leonard Snyder; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 3:30 P.M. at the Blanchard Church of Christ, 161 Beach St., Blanchard, PA 16826 with Rev. Dr. Russell Moldovan officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the church on Monday from 2:30 until the time of the service.
Private burial will take place at Blanchard Liberty Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blanchard Church of Christ.
