Obituary – Gene T. Schrack

Gene T. Schrack, 75, of Mill Hall passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at his home.

Born June 5, 1948, he was a son of the late William and Bernice Heltman Schrack.

After graduating from Bald Eagle Nittany High School, he served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Gene attended Lock Haven University and then Northeastern University, where he received his Physician Assistant certification.

On October 16, 1976, he married his best friend, the former Beth Ann Weaver, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

To the many who knew Gene, he was a kind man who cared deeply for others.  Whether it be his wife, children, friends, patients, or dogs, Gene impacted the lives of many in his community.  As one of the first physician assistants in the area, he devoted his career to helping his patients improve their lives over his 40 years of practicing medicine.  In addition to practicing medicine, Gene inspired others through his extracurricular activities, whether performing magic shows for schools and organizations in the community, or contributing to youth sports in which his children were heavily involved.

In his later years, Gene gave his time and energy to the selfless care of his wife, Beth, whom he loved deeply.

He will be remembered for his humor, his good nature, and his ever-present smile and laugh.

Surviving him are his son, Thomas (Shari) Schrack of State College; daughter, Dr. Katie Schrack (Alex) Poor of the Philadelphia Area; brothers, Dennis Schrack of Loganton and Samuel (Sandra) Schrack of Montoursville; sister, Susan (Wade) Hanna of Beech Creek; and grandchildren: Emily and Eli Schrack and Evelyn, Sullivan and Griffin Poor.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10 AM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Pastor Tom Jones officiating.  Private interment will be at Fairview Evangelical Cemetery, Loganton.
