Catholic School Expansion Continues
LOCK HAVEN – The weatherman hasn’t been cooperating this winter, but the Lock Haven Catholic School is continuing its expansion project in high gear.
The W. Water Street school is reporting raising over two-thirds of the money needed for the new building which will include two new classrooms with bathrooms and a “gymacafetorium” (gymnasium/auditorium/cafeteria with full kitchen). The project is projected to be done in July and will be used for the upcoming 2015-16 school year.
School expansion officials sent out a special thank you to Jim and Sheila Russo along with entire M & R Contracting Company, for “the amazing job they are doing. They have all been very patient with the everyday obstacles of running a school, along with allowing the school to take opportunities to educate our students during the process.”
School officials thanked them for the hard hats that they donated to the students along with a book for the school library, described as a student favorite.
Meanwhile the Catholic School is continuing its fundraisers: a golf tournament on May 22 at the Clinton Country Club and a dance at Haywood’s on the Green April 10 featuring SNUG. Additional information on both events will be available soon.
Parishioners from the church are also helping with the fundraising campaign. Earl and Gerry June are coordinating a Craft Fair at the Dunnstown Fire Hall on May 2 to benefit the Expansion Fund.
The school has announced it is accepting registration in the following grades for the fall: 2nd (one spot available), 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. Please call the school at 570-748-7252, to discuss the 7th and 8th grade opportunities in the middle school.
