LHU Men’s Basketball erupts for 94 points, takes care of business at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG– Behind an offensive outburst, the Lock Haven men’s basketball team inched closer to securing the top seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division on Wednesday (Feb. 28) by downing Bloomsburg on the road, 94-71.

The Bald Eagles scored 44 points in the first half and 50 in the second half on their way to surpassing 90 total points for the first time this season.

Lock Haven shot over 50 percent from the floor in the game and knocked down a game-high nine three-pointers. The Haven netted a season-high 40 shots from the floor in the game.

The Bald Eagles dominated the paint (52-30), while scoring a game-high 29 points off the bench and leading in bench and fast-break points.

With the victory, the Bald Eagles improve to 19-7 overall and 17-4 in the PSAC.

The Haven is currently in a tie with nationally-ranked ESU for second place in the Eastern Division. The Haven hosts first-place Millersville on Saturday, which will serve as a showdown that will decide the top seed in the PSAC Championship Tournament.

Lock Haven is 2-0 against ESU and currently 0-1 vs. Millersville. A victory on Saturday would secure both tiebreakers in favor of the Bald Eagles and would make them the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

A No. 1 Eastern Division seed will set Lock Haven up for a second round Conference Tournament game at home on Wednesday, March 6. If the Bald Eagles fall to the three seed, they would host the first round of the PSAC Championships on Monday, March 4 at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Earlier today, the Bald Eagles were named the No. 10 team in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region rankings.

Justice Shoats (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led the charge with a game-high 24 points (10-of-21), while just missing a double-double, adding nine assists. Shoats also plucked three steals.

Isaiah Stewart (Madison, Wisc./Madison La Follette) continues to light it up from behind the arch and knocked down four trifectas on his way to 18 points.

Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) followed Stewart’s lead and drilled three shots from deep on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Dyllon Scott (Dacula, Ga./Penfield) and Collin Jones (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) rounded out the Bald Eagles in double figures, coming off the bench to score 13 and 12 points, respectively. Scott added six rebounds.
