No. 23/14 LHU Women’s Basketball win 25th game of season, downs Bloomsburg on the road

BLOOMSBURG – After locking in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division regular season title, the No. 23/14 Lock Haven women’s basketball team continued its winning ways on Wednesday (Feb. 28) by going on the road to down Bloomsburg, 60-38.

The Huskies scored the opening basket of the game, but the Bald Eagles responded with an 8-2 run and never trailed the rest of the way.

Lock Haven’s defense led the way with a heroic effort and held the Huskies to 10 or fewer points through the first three quarters. The Bald Eagles held Bloomsburg to 24 percent shooting in the game.

The first-place Bald Eagles secured the Eastern Division regular season Championship on Saturday and are now 25-2 overall and 20-1 in the PSAC.

The 25 wins this season are the most since winning 26 in 1989-90 and the 20 Eastern Division victories are the most for the program since joining. The last PSAC Division title for the program came in 1990-91 when the Bald Eagles won the West.

With the loss, the Huskies fall to 8-19 overall and 6-15 in the PSAC. The Bald Eagles earn another sweep over an Eastern Division opponent.

Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) continues to state her claim on Player of the Year with another impressive effort on both ends. The sophomore scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots.

Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) scored in double figures off the bench for the 10th time this season as she finished with 13 points and five rebounds.

Madeline Evans (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) was a monster on the glass and finished with a career-high 16 rebounds. The freshman is now third all-time for single-season rebounds with 98.

Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) rounded out the Bald Eagles in double-figures with 10 points and five rebounds.

The Bald Eagles’ defense set the tone in the first half as they held the Huskies to just 21 percent shooting from the floor to take a 29-17 lead into the break.

Lock Haven limited the Huskies to six made baskets in the half and led by as much as 14.
