WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA – Woodward Township Supervisors gave their approval blessing on the final plans for construction of the new Nittany MinitMart planned for Dunnstown at their Tuesday evening meeting.

“We can begin construction as soon as it is approved,” said the engineer involved with the project. “We have all permits required and the next couple of months will see quite a bit of action at the site with completion anticipated for later this year.”

Replacing the current structure located at 25 Woodward Avenue in Dunnstown, the new structure will be built across the street next to the Dunnstown Laser Wash.

Woodward Supervisor John Barth met with The Record Monday afternoon to give a tour of the plans for the new location.

“It will have four islands as opposed to the one that is currently there,” John said, “which will have around eight gas pumps, and then two islands for diesel with either two or three pumps there.”

MinitMart headquarters also filed appropriate applications months ago for alcohol sales and will feature interior cafe seating, and a 4,739 sq. ft. footprint.

“Based on the plans it looks like it will be pretty similar to the MinitMart location in Avis,” Barth said.

Supervisors also approved the date for the annual Easter Egg Hunt taking place at Riverview Park for Sunday, March 24 at 2 PM.

Other items that Supervisor Kyle Coleman of the Recreation Committee reported on were the possibilities of a Boy Scout community service project at Riverview Park, and the use of monies received from the Clinton County Community Foundation for bathroom rehabilitation at the boat launch.

“We are looking at some WiFi cameras for the outside of the bathrooms to deter vandalism and for greater communication back to us with what is going on down there at all times,” Coleman said. “This camera system is definitely something for us to think about to improve safety at the site.”

Dunnstown Fire Company also reported that their new engine will be ready for final inspection in early March.
