ALTOONA-Current Wildcat senior Rocco Serafini also reached the 100 win plateau in the semifinals of the District AAA tournament, as he pinned Paul Tisinger of Greater Johnstown in 52 seconds of their 215 pound semifinal match.
Serafin then upped his career mark to 101-43 with a fall in the championship finals, as pinned Evan Boose of Altoona in 1:59 of the 215 finals bout. The fall by Serafini also wrapped the team title for the Wildcats, their second straight team title and Serafini’s third District 6 title. Serafini will be heading to Bloomsburg University to play football for the Husky’s after graduation.
Serafini joins three other current Wildcats as members of the Wildcat and County 100-win club, as Luke Simcox is currently 129-18 for his career, while Griffin Walizer will head to regionals with a career mark of 117-41. Junior Dalton Perry rounds out the foursome with a career mark of 114-10, as Perry is the only underclassman among the four.
Griffin Walizer was a District 6 finalist for the fourth time, as he won a District AAA title in 2021 as a freshman and finished as a runner-up in each of the last three seasons. Walizer will be a Lock Haven University Bald Eagle in the college wrestling career..
