Phoenix Advance Two Wrestlers to District 4 AA Tournament

HUGHESVILLE–The Sugar Valley Rural Charter Phoenix advanced two wrestlers in next week’s District 4 Class AA championships, as Cameron Quick (145) and Jarren McCloskey (133) both placed in the top four of their weight class at the District 4 Class Central Sectional in Hughesville on Saturday..
Quick took a second place finish at 145 pounds, as he lost by fall to Hayden Harvey of Montoursville in 4:47 of their championship bout, Harvey was lead 11-2 at the time of the fall.
McCloskey advanced to the District 4 Tournament, as he posted a solid 16-0 technical fall over Julius Serrano of Bloomsburg in 3:09 of their consolation final bout for third place. It was McCloskey’s second win over Serrano in the tournament.
Phoenix senior Levi Galentine came one place short of advancing, as he placed fifth at 285 pounds with an 8-0 major decision over Hughesville’s Bryce Burkhart. The Phoenix’s Wyatt Conoway (139), Ethan Bartenope (152) and Cayden Weaver (172) all finished in sixth place at their respective weights.
Montgomery won the sectional team title with 205.5 points and 10 wrestlers moving on to Williamsport for the District tournament, while Montoursville finished in second with 199.5 points and nine wrestlers advancing. The Phoenix finished in ninth place of the 10 team field with 58.5 points and their two advancers.
The pairings and times will be announced early this coming week and will be passed along once they are announced.
