No. 19 LHU Women’s Basketball historic run continues, downs Shepherd on the road

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The 19th-ranked Lock Haven women’s basketball team continues to rewrite history in 2023-24 and won its 22 game of the season by downing Shepherd on the road, 69-52, to continue to create separation at the top of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division.

The Bald Eagles improve to 22-2 overall and 17-1 in the PSAC to remain three games ahead of second-place West Chester in the Eastern Division with four games remaining. Lock Haven can clinch the Division with a pair of victories, which will set up the program to host the PSAC Championship tournament.

The 22 victories are the most for the program in over 34 years, dating back to 1989-90 (26 wins).

Shepherd falls to 6-18 overall and 4-15 in the PSAC.

Lock Haven has been outstanding on the road all season and improves its visiting mark to 10-1.

Bald Eagle leading scorer Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) reached the 20-point mark for the sixth time this season as she knocked down a game-high 10-of-15 shots at the foul line and both of her three-pointers. The sophomore added five rebounds and a game-high three steals.

Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) finished behind her with 16 points and seven rebounds, while going a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe.

Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) continued her scoring tear off the bench, chipping in 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Madeline Evans (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) filled the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal. Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) added three assists off the bench.

After holding a slim one-point advantage coming out of the break, the Bald Eagles outscored the Rams, 16-12, in the third period before putting the game away with a 26-13 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Lock Haven shot a cool 55 percent (5-of-9) from the field in the final period, while knocking down a game-high 14-of-19 shots at the foul line.

The Bald Eagles’ defense held Shepherd to under 40 percent from the floor in the game and forced a game-high 24 turnovers while only committing 15.

Lock Haven plucked a game-high 14 steals.
