Obituary – Douglas A. Myers
Douglas A. Myers, 81, of Swissdale passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Born August 10, 1942 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Lamont “Bob” and Luella (Aikely) Myers.
Doug was a 1960 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On November 22, 1963, he married the former Hazel H. Hoffman with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling.
By trade, Doug was a general contractor, owning Myers Construction, Inc. which he passed on to his son, Mark. Over the years he built many houses including several log homes.
Doug attended Swissdale United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking and fishing; but most of all, he was an accomplished hunter. Doug was known to travel out west and even to other countries to hunt. In recent times, he bagged a record bear weighing in at over 400 pounds.
In addition to his wife, Hazel Myers of Swissdale, he is survived by his children: Robert (Jack Page) Myers of North Carolina, Mark (Michelle) Myers of McElhattan and Kristie (Jeffrey) Copenhaver of Swissdale; a brother, Edward (Carol) Myers of Lock Haven; seven grandchildren: Liz Twyne, Robyn Hall, Mark Myers, Madison Myers, Matthew Myers, Kaleb Copenhaver and Kort Copenhaver; and a great granddaughter, Remington Hall, who is expected soon.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Edward Myers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 11 AM at Swissdale United Methodist Church.
