Obituary – Audrey Ann Sorgen

Audrey Ann Sorgen, 91, of Lock Haven, passed away January 13, 2024.

Born September 30, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Glossner) Yocum.  

Audrey was a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

On February 13, 1954, she married her love, Clair E. “Sonny” Sorgen with whom she shared 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.

Audrey was a very gentle, caring and loving person.  She loved her family dearly and enjoyed being with them.  She was a wonderful mother to her children, especially to her fourth child who was born with spina bifida.  

She was a Home Caregiver for many years.

Audrey attended Swissdale United Methodist Church and enjoyed helping with dinners at the church.

She loved to watch the activities taking place on the farm as well as the beautiful birds that came to her windows.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, working with flowers, going to camp, wordsearch puzzles, diamond art painting and riding the Rhino with Sonny.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Besty (Ed) Knect of Lock Haven; two sons, Randy (Susan) and Michael (Barbara) Sorgen, both of Lock Haven; her grandchildren: Eddie (Tammy) Knecht, Stacy (Bryon) Peters, Tammy (Alvin) Duck, Scott (Geri) Sorgen and Stephanie (Mandi) Sorgen; her great grandchildren: Jordan Anderson, Benson Knecht, Ashton Peters and Cody and Conner Sorgen; and great, great grandchildren: Elijah, Noah and Jonah Anderson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clair “Sonny” Sorgen, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Sorgen; her brothers: Carl, Harold “Bud” and Byron “Larue” Yocum; and sisters: Dorothy Zeigler, Phyllis Polin and Alice Herman.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.  Private interment will be at Swissdale Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions in Audrey’s name may be made to Swissdale United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children through the funeral home.
