Sugar Valley Girls Wrestling Participates in First Tournament at Juniata

MIFFLINTOWN- The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School Girls Wrestling team participated in their first tournament Saturday at Juniata High School. Out of 23 teams, the SVRCS girls took 11th place finish in the team race. Lady Phoenix Olivia Johnson (136), Emma Downing (142), and Marrin Clester (190) all took 4th place in their class. Kayleigh Showers (170) placed fifth in the first ever Girls Tournament at Juniata.

The Sugar Valley Coaching Staff said, “It was a great learning experience for the girls as they got a ton of mat time. ” The team is coached by Jason Bilbay and Tanya Miller-Mitchell and currently has 7 girls out for the first year program.

The team will be back in action Monday for The Matness at the MAAC tournament held at the Montgomery Area Athletic Complex.
