LHU’s Anthony Noto named Mac East Wrestler of the Week
CLEVELAND – No. 1 Anthony Noto (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) of the nationally-ranked Lock Haven men’s wrestling team has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week (Jan. 3).
This is the third MAC Wrestler of the Week honoree for the Bald Eagles this season and the second for Noto, who also brought home the award on November 14.
Competing at the prestigious National Duals on Dec. 19 vs. elite competition, Lock Haven’s Noto led the way for the Bald Eagles and headlined the event.
Ranked No. 2 in the nation at the time, his perfect 2-0 day included a win over then-ranked No. 1 Jakob Camacho as the day’s opening dual with NC State featured the No. 1 vs. No. 2 clash at 125 pounds with Noto and Camacho featured. Noto added a dominant 10-3 victory vs. Ohio State’s Vinny Kileary.
Noto, a returning All-American, is now a perfect 8-0 on the season. He’s also ranked No. 1 again after the strong performance at the Collegiate Duals.
The 20th-ranked Bald Eagles will return to action to kick off the new year when Lock Haven heads to Franklin & Marshall’s David Lehman Open, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.
