Your Help is Needed to build beds for children in need in Clinton County

By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN, PA – A warm bed to sleep in does not sound like it would be much of a problem to come by in 2024, but for many children in our local community it is.

“Since I posted this yesterday (December 28) we have had requests for 24 beds,” the administrator for Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) – PA, Lock Haven posted on Facebook. “It breaks my heart, as we currently have a total of eight beds and 42 children in need.”

Donations from these KCSD kiddos and their classmates were the top class in the whole district! The grand total of the KCSD schools was $1140.07. That’s enough to get five kids tucked in!

SHP is calling on the community to lend a helping hand, both physically or financially, to see it that supplies can be procured for the building of beds for children in need in our own community.

“I had to close our site for new applications, but any received will be addressed the minute we reopen,” a social media post stated.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is currently planning on a mega-bed-building event on February 10 in the Lock Haven area (location of the build is disclosed when volunteers sign up online here: https://x.gldn.io/e/azKpjK4cUFb.

“This needs to be a very productive event to catch up to our current need in the community,” the post said.
Currently, money is needed for lumber, hardware, and mattresses, and human resources (people to build beds) are needed for the February 10 bed build.

“We have tons of bedding, just need the beds now.”
