LOCK HAVEN, PA — Julie Brennan spent the past eight years as the Clinton County Economic Partnership’s tireless Chamber/Tourism Director, retiring a few months ago.
Championing our city, our county, and the wider region has always been her passion, making her one of the few people who could take that job and truly love it.
It’s no wonder that the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven unanimously named her Downtowner of the Year, presenting her with the award at the club’s holiday dinner Dec. 19 at Stella A’s.
“It’s an honor that is overdue,” said Club President Marianne Lotfi.
Brennan has been a cheerleader for the entire area, from her days as a journalist for local WBPZ/WSNU radio, to serving as state Sen. John Wozniak’s legislative aide in Lock Haven, to her communications work for vital local employer International Paper, to her accomplishments in her most recent job.
The PA Wilds recognized her with its Outstanding Leader Award, pointing to how she advocated for the Bald Eagle Valley Trail and the “Elk Scenic Drive” signage for Renovo Road, as well as her close involvement with the LH JAMS jazz and arts festival and with our area’s signature endurance events: Great Island Triathlon, Hyner Challenge, the Frozen Snot, and the world-class Boulder Beast.
As Chamber/Tourism Director, Brennan was also known for her weekly newsletters for businesses, including a newsletter she started in the Covid shut-down days offering guidance and information about helpful federal, state and local programs.
The Clinton County Fair Association honored her with the Friends of the Fair Award, and in her town of Flemington she’s known for helping bring a dog park to the community.
In presenting Brennan with the Downtowner of the Year Award, Lotfi asked the Rotarians and guests to imagine what our county will be like without “Julie on the job”.
“We think it will stand proudly on the foundations she has laid as it grows and prospers,” Lotfi said, “and that Julie will continue to spread positivity wherever she is and in whatever she does.”
