LHU Men’s Wrestling competes at Cleveland State Open; Henson claims another title
CLEVELAND, OH – The No. 21 Lock Haven men’s wrestling team sent several Bald Eagles to compete Saturday at Cleveland State Open and leading the way for The Haven was Wyatt Henson (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg), who claimed another tournament title.
Henson, ranked No. 25 in the nation at 141 pounds, entered today’s action the winner of two straight tournament titles. He won Lock Haven’s Mat-Town Open on Nov. 26 and he claimed gold on Nov. 18 at Millersville’s Shorty Hitchcock Classic, and his run of dominance continued today.
Competing unattached today, Henson was a perfect 5-0 with four tech falls. He opened the day with back-to-back techs before a decision in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Henson won by tech fall in just 4:18, and in the finals, he downed Logan Brown of Army by tech fall (25-9) in 6:31.
Colin Fegley (Mahanoy, Pa./Mahanoy) was fourth at 184 pounds after he went 2-2 with a tech fall. For Fegley, it marked his return to action for the first time since Nov. 5 when the Bald Eagles opened the 2023-24 season at the Princeton Open.
DaShawn Farber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth) was Lock Haven’s third “place-winner” on the day. The 2022 NCAA Division I national qualifier was fifth at 149 pounds after going 4-1 on the day with a pin and a major decision.
Up Next for Lock Haven:
The Bald Eagles are set to compete at the Collegiate Duals on Tuesday, Dec. 19. The event will be held at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee and features elite competition as Lock Haven is set to face nationally-ranked NC State, Ohio State and Northern Iowa.
