LH Women’s Basketball wins third straight at Georgian Court
LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team went on the road to win its third straight game by downing Georgian Court 66-50 in a non-conference game on Monday (Nov. 27).
The Bald Eagles earned their third straight victory to improve to 3-1 on the year. Georgian Court falls to 0-6.
Leading 34-29 coming out of the break, the Bald Eagles put the game away in the third period, by outscoring the Lions, 24-10. Lock Haven led by as much as 19 in the quarter thanks to 45 percent shooting (9-of-20), while holding Georgian Court to 27 percent (3-of-11) and winning the battle on the glass, 14-7.
The Lions finished with an 11-8 advantage in the fourth quarter, but the damage was already done and Lock Haven closed out the victory.
The Bald Eagles shot just 36 percent (25-of-70) on the night, but excelled on the defense end to force extra possessions and finish with 20 more scoring opportunities than the Lions. Lock Haven led in points off turnovers and second chance points, while holding a huge advantage in bench points (31-12).
In the first quarter, the Lions finished with a better percentage from the field, but the Bald Eagles controlled possession and led in field goal opportunities, 19-10, to build a 18-15 lead after the period. The Bald Eagles’ second unit led the way, outscoring the Lion’s bench, 14-2.
The theme continued in the second period with the Lions finishing with a better shooting percentage, however, the Bald Eagles dominated the paint, while also excelling at the charity stripe. Lock Haven finished with a 17-3 advantage in second chance points, while knocking down five more shots at the foul line to carry a 34-29 lead into the half.
For the Bald Eagles, Madeline Evans (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) finished with 10 points each, while adding nine and seven rebounds respectively.
Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) added nine points and six rebounds, while Jackie Fetsko finished with a team-high 10 rebounds to go with eight points. Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) added eight points and seven rebounds.
